For our October Race, we completed the Bubble Run 5k at Lake Lanier. This race boasts a 3.1 mile distance with interspersed multi-color “Foam Bogs” (bubble stations). Since this was a less serious race than some of the others, Carol Anne and I once again opted to dress with a bit of whimsy — this time, as DONUTS. Who doesn’t want to think about carbs during a run?
Here’s the 4 of us, ready to start the run!
Honest review:
We loved the location, and the fact that the Bubble Run partners with local charities. The registration process was also AWESOME, particularly the part where they mail your bib straight to you. Yep, you read that right. No packet pick-up lines for us, thanks!
We didn’t necessarily love the foam — only because the foam was dyed to be pink, blue, green, yellow, etc (different color for each bog); and this color stains skin. The effect afterwards was like having a bizarre spray-tan that left you a little pink, a little green, and slightly jaundiced. I’ve got nothing against foam, or color for that matter, but I just really didn’t like the foam/color mix. It seemed more difficult to remove than color run powder, and felt just plain icky.
Definitely a fun run, and well organized. Plus, the bubble runners themselves were a happy crowd! Lots of tutus and costumes to be seen.
