“The year of the banana is over,” declared Carol Anne somberly from the backseat of the car. And she’s right, it is.
In 2017, we ran a race every single month for a year in an endeavor known as “the Year of the Banana” in honor of the finish-line banana giveaway (a staple of any runner’s diet).
But life gets busy, and it’s been a bit since we’ve run a race. In fact, the last one we ran together was an entire year ago.
The Dolly Dash in Ringgold, GA was a worthwhile reason to dust off our (probably too worn out) running shoes for a nice morning jog. Followed by some antique shopping, a farmers’ market, and nice coffee, of course.

Did we train for this race? Nope.
Did we enjoy it? Absolutely.
This year for our outfit we wore tanks that said “Diamonds in a Rhinestone World” paired with glitter tutus.
Just like last year, we handed out stickers from our Fanny packs. Spotted taking someone’s photo just to be nice? Have a sticker! You are a cop directing traffic? You get a sticker! As always, stickers are remarkably well-received by children and adults alike.
